Shipping Hemp and Hemp-Derivatives
Raw Hemp
Hemp in plant form is accepted for transportation only for pre-approved shippers as a contractual service. Shipments containing raw hemp shall:
- be in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
- be packaged where the labeling and outer box markings do not identify the contents as containing raw hemp.
- contain the Certificate of Analysis/Test Results demonstrating the product contains <.3% delta-9 THC on a dry weight basis.
- contain the UPS Hemp declaration document which serves as a certification from the shipper that the shipment is legal hemp.
- be tendered to UPS using UPS Adult Signature Required Service.
Shippers are responsible for maintaining all necessary licenses, registrations, government approvals and authority required to sell and ship hemp.
Hemp Derivatives
UPS accepts for transportation hemp derivatives or products containing hemp derivatives only as permitted by all application federal, state, and local laws. Shippers must comply with all state and local laws and regulations applicable to hemp derivatives, including for example potency limitations such as those found in the regulations amending Part 114 (Cannabinoid Hemp) of Title 9 of the New York Codes, Rules and Regulations.
All shipments within the U.S. containing hemp or hemp derivatives must use UPS Adult Signature Required service.
Hemp derivatives intended for consumption through an aerosolized solution are prohibited in the U.S. network including import and export. Please refer to the Tobacco Vape Policy for more information.
UPS prohibits the shipment of any synthetic or lab-made cannabinoid compound and their derivatives.
Marijuana
The shipment of marijuana, as defined in 21 U.S.C §802(16), is prohibited under any circumstances, even when marijuana is for medicinal purposes or is otherwise legal under a state’s law. Shipment of any synthetic cannabinoid compound, or any synthetic cannabinoid derivative is also prohibited.
UPS will not accept shipments of hemp or hemp derivatives from any location that sells marijuana or marijuana products.

UPS reserves the right to dispose of any shipment containing marijuana, hemp or hemp products tendered for shipment which shippers are prohibited from shipping, which UPS is not authorized to accept, which UPS states that it will not accept, or which UPS has a right to refuse.
UPS reserves the right to discontinue service to any shipper for, among other reasons, tendering a package containing marijuana, hemp or hemp products that does not comply with all applicable laws or the UPS Tariff/Terms and Conditions of Service.
