UPS Smart Pickups Basics
With UPS Smart Pickups, a UPS driver is auto-notified to come pick up your package the same business day you process the shipment.

Availability
UPS Smart Pickup is available Monday through Friday, excluding UPS holidays. It is also available on Saturdays for an additional charge.

Shipping System Compatibility
UPS Smart Pickup is available through UPS.com Shipping, UPS Worldship® and UPS CampusShip®. If you ship through APIs or a third party site, view the Shipping With a QR Code tab.

Notify-by Time
Your notify-by time is the latest possible time you can process your first shipment of the day for a same day pickup. The cutoff is typically one hour before your desired pickup time.
How to Schedule a Smart Pickup
Ready to schedule? Log in or create an account to begin.

Log In to Your Account
Under “My Accounts and Payment Options”, find the applicable account. Under “Actions”, select “View Account Details” then select “Pickup Options” and “UPS Smart Pickup.”

Select Your Preferences
Fill out your preferred pickup times and driver instructions, if needed. Click “Save.”

Take Note of Weekly Charges
Smart Pickups cost a flat rate charge of $18.00 per week.

Select the Right Account
If you have multiple shipping account numbers, be sure to create your shipping label using the account you added UPS Smart Pickups for to initiate your pickup.

Missed Pickup Deadline
If your first shipment of the day is processed after your deadline, you can schedule your pickup for the next business day. For air or international, request a UPS-On-Call Pickup.

Location Matters
After you process your pickup, the system will notify a UPS driver to stop by that same business day to pick up all prepared packages, so make sure your packages are ready to go!

Set Up Your Account
To schedule a Smart Pickup, you’ll need to set it up in your account. Log in and make sure it’s set up before you initiate your pickup.

Visit Your Profile
When you’re ready to schedule a Smart Pickup, go to your UPS profile and find the Smart Pickups QR code. Scan the QR code to initiate the pickup.

What Happens Next?
The QR code will take you to a page where your information will be prepopulated. There, you’ll be able to confirm your smart pickup. Be sure you’re aware of the time of day as there are cut off times for same-day pickups.
FAQ
UPS Smart Pickup is available on all UPS shipping platforms, including UPS.com Shipping, UPS Worldship® and UPS CampusShip®.
Please note: UPS Smart Pickup is not compatible with UPS Worldwide Express Freight® shipments.
If you use a third party shipping platform and were recently migrated to a UPS Smart Pickup, your pickup will be initiated automatically every time you create a shipment.
Your notify-by time is the latest possible time you will be able to process your first package of the day and receive a same day pickup after confirming your UPS Smart Pickup service. This cutoff is typically one hour before your desired pickup time. You can view it by logging into your profile and viewing your Pickup Options.
If you process your first package after the cutoff, your UPS Smart Pickup service will be scheduled for the next business day. You also have the option to schedule a same day one-time pickup.
A pickup confirmation needs to occur in order to notify UPS that you’d like to schedule your UPS Smart Pickup service for later that day or on the next business day.
When your Smart Pickup has been scheduled, you will receive a Pickup Reference Number (PRN). You can use this number when referring to a specific pickup or if you need to cancel that pickup.
Smart Pickup Confirmation if Using Worldship:
The first time you process a shipment on Worldship after signing up for UPS Smart Pickup, you will be asked to choose between “Automatically schedule a UPS Smart Pickup” or “Prompt user prior to scheduling a UPS Smart Pickup.”
If you select the second option, each time you process your first package of the day in UPS Worldship, you will be prompted to answer whether you want to schedule a UPS Smart Pickup or not.
Smart Pickup Confirmation on UPS.com Shipping:
As long as you are processing your first package of the day before your Notify-by time, you’ll be able to choose between the following options in the “Shipping Service” section.
•Request today’s Smart Pickup – This option allows you to schedule UPS Smart Pickup service for the same day
•Request tomorrow’s Smart Pickup – This option allows you to schedule UPS Smart Pickup service for the next business day
•Schedule a UPS On-Call Pickup – This option allows you to schedule a one-time pickup.
Smart Pickup Confirmation if Using CampusShip:
After you are set up with Smart Pickup, when you process a shipment on the UPS CampusShip platform, you will see “Would you like to Schedule a Pickup?” in the shipment processing screen.
You will be given the option of including the shipment with Smart Pickup, scheduling a one-time pickup or finding a nearby UPS location so you can drop off the package there. Select “Include this shipment with the Smart Pickup.”
Smart Pickup Confirmation on a Non-UPS Shipping Platform:
After you are set up with Smart Pickup, when you process your first shipment on the shipping platform you use, your Smart Pickup will be automatically confirmed without need for further action.
In case you need to confirm your smart pickup manually, you have access to the option of setting up a QR code that can be scanned to confirm your Smart Pickup as follow:
- Log into www.ups.com to access the Preference Center.
- Click the username in the top right corner and select “Accounts and Payment.”
- Select the account name.
- Select “View Account Details.”
- Expand Pickup options and click “Generate QR Code.”
- Print instructions and placard to keep at your UPS Smart Pickup Point.
In order to make any changes to your pickup preferences, please follow the steps outlined below:
- Log into UPS.com.
- Access the Preference Center.
- Click your user name on the top right of the screen and access “Profile Overview”.
- Click “Manage my Payment Options”.
- On the Accounts and Payment Options screen, select the action button and click on “Edit.”
- Expand “Pickup Options” to find “Earliest Pickup time”, “Latest Pickup Time”, and “Preferred Pickup Time”.
In order to check the status of your Smart Pickup, please follow the steps outlined below:
- Log into UPS.com.
- Once you’ve logged into UPS.com, click on “Shipping” and select “Schedule a Pickup.”
- On the right-hand menu, select “Pickup Request Status.”
- The Pickup Status Window will display all current pickups by account number. You can search Pickup Requests by account number.
